UK: Gay marriage 'will be legalised'

The government has indicated it is committed to changing the law to allow gay marriage by 2015.

Equality campaigners say the marriage laws are still discriminatory

Ministers are to launch a consultation next spring on how to open up civil marriage to same-sex couples ahead of the next general election.

Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone told the Lib Dem autumn conference that current laws were “simply not fair”.

The leadership of both coalition parties back the move but it is likely to anger some Conservative activists.

And gay rights campaigners have urged the government to act immediately, saying existing laws are discriminatory and a consultation is unnecessary.

At the moment, only men and women are permitted to get married while civil partnerships, which became law in 2005, are limited to same-sex couples…

Okay folks, being a nontraditional college student can suck sometimes. I’m not even sure I should pursue the degree in Journalsim right now. (But I thought it’s a good idea to get a clue what I was doing. Of course, my goal was to work for a local newspaper, not  to start an Asexual News Site.)  We have not done the typical LGBT story for today. (We’d like to do more, but we also want to mantain our Asexual focus.) That does not matter. It seems the Ace Prom generated some controversy of its own.

Sexless Marriage Costs Man Money

I’m glad Pennsylvania doesn’t have any alimony at all by the way. If I got married, I’d hate to suffer the fate of this poor Frenchman.

I think this post is the most problematic today. I wanted to reach for my copy of the AP stylebook to determine if Elderly is appropriate. (This act always makes me feel dirty by the way.) However, there’s a very interesting film mentioned here that I think I’d like to see.
