I think it would just come down to your personal distinction, really. Assuming that you’re considering you’re gray means that you’ve experienced romantic attraction before, it’s just up to you to determine if it was consistent or often enough to make sense to go with that identification.

For instance, personally, if you experienced romantic attraction only once in your life or something, I’d just go with aromantic, because I don’t think once would be too notable.

But that’s just me, it’s all up to your own distinction. Whatever works for you.
