Anonymous asked: So I was sitting with a friend of mine, whom I recently told I was Gray-A, at a cafe when he pointed out a guy he found attractive. I shrugged, not because I identify as ace but because I didn't find him aesthetically pleasing. His immediate reaction was to say "Oh well your ace, you wouldn't know." and then followed it up with "You aren't ACTUALLY ace are you?" with this amused expression. How should I deal with this sort of offensive reactions without getting angry?
Well, to be completely honest you have every right to be angry.
But there are always going to be ignorant naysayers, it’s really their problem not yours. The best thing to do is to stick by what you think, and maybe if they persist tell them that they are being inconsiderate or offensive.
The unfortunate thing about people like this is that, if they don’t want to understand, you can’t make them.
Does anyone else have any experiences or responses they do that might help?
