To all those complaining about the Asexual picture i posted
Okay, maybe it doesn’t fit YOUR view of Asexual, or the ‘actual’ definition of it, BUT SHUT THE HELL UP! It fit’s my friend, THE ONE WHO I HAD IN MIND WHEN I POSTED THE PICTURE, perfectly. It fit the guy PERFECTLY. Not ALL Asexuals, but it fit HIM! The post was to promote his blog a bit and to show i support him and Asexual.
Geeze.
Well, it’s nice that you don’t want to represent all aces with this picture, but the OP of this picture definitely had this intent - along with cutefying of aces. There have been numerous posts on why most aces don’t like this picture and if you want to use it you’ll have to accept that you will get comments which express those views.
Besides, there’s no need to put the word actual in quotation marks, since the definition of asexuality (=not experiencing sexual attraction) is widely accepted. There’s also no need to scream, for that matter.
This post just exemplifies exactly how poorly you are doing as an asexual ally. You posted that picture, as you claimed, to “show asexual support”. Asexual support should cover the entirety of the asexual spectrum. Not just “oh these select few because my friend is like that”.
You could have respectfully acknowledged that you posted that out of a mistaken attempt at support, but were ignorant at the implications. And that would have been okay. Really, we would have forgiven you and thanked you for acknowledging your mistake and trying to help us out anyway.
But you didn’t. You went on the defensive and defended yourself in perpetuating the erasure of a vast majority of the asexual community. That is not okay at all.
If you wanted to support your friend, then go ahead and support him, really that’s wonderful, but don’t take that image, claim to support asexuals, and then go on the defensive and tell us to stop voicing our opinions about our feelings on how other people perceive us.
That is a disgusting attitude.
Please just think about the implications of this post and how damaging and hurtful it is to asexual spectrum people.
