Asexuality

can i just shout out to your followers who are uncomfortable with all the labels: you don't have to have a label. you don't have to be an aromantic asexual, you can just not be into that. you don't have to be a panromantic asexual, you can just dig who you dig but not be into sex. i don't like the labels, they make me feel funny in my gut. don't worry about fitting into the fancy names, it doesn't matter as much as you think it does.

I completely agree with your sentiment that people shouldn’t feel like they need to have one if they don’t like the idea of them or are overwhelmed. Definitely, identification is a very personal matter and you’re not obligated to have one. Thank you for that comfort, because it is completely true.

However, “it doesn’t matter as much as you think it does” may be problematic. Some people do need labels and find them very very important to them. And we need to respect everyone’s needs. If you don’t like labels, that’s perfectly fine, but don’t judge those who do and don’t tell them what should or shouldn’t be important to them.

Labels and identification is completely personal, and if you don’t want or need them, fine, if you do, that’s fine, too. c:
